Mom and I made a few long delayed phone calls. The cell signal limitation has been a challenge. We visited for a while and then turned in. This has been a great day. Gary is getting stronger every day. Gary’s perspective is very positive and that is serving him well. We have been privileged to share our important message with a few people today. We are looking forward to additional opportunities tomorrow to pass our message on to those who are interested in hearing about answers.
Today was a record setting day for Gary! He walked 20 miles in 8 hours which is a one hour improvement over his previous record. The weather was cooperative. It was overcast and cool (about 48 degrees), but there was no significant wind. The terrain was significant for flat stretches with a few gentle hills. When I finished walking my 20 miles, Mom and I went to Dave’s Coffee Shop in Clovis, NM. We talked with our server about Gary’s journey, our walk from Los Angeles and Fast-5.

I gave her one of my cards and she took note of my last name. The server called over to Debbie Herring, another server who was just coming on duty, to visit with us. It was interesting to compare notes and explore any possible family connections. Mom told Debbie that she and Dad had been full-time “RVers” and they explored possible acquaintances they had in common in Yuma, Arizona. Debbie and Mom compared notes regarding the first date with the “love of their life” older man that each went on to marry. We talked about the Fast-5 lifestyle and Debbie noted that her daily meal pattern essentially the same as the Fast-5 lifestyle by habit. Her slender body is not surprising. It has been our observation that the people we meet whose weight is at their ideal body weight most often follow an eating pattern that is analogous to a Fast-5 lifestyle.
Mom and I went to Main Street in Clovis, NM to walk around and see what the town had to offer. We were pleased to find a number of interesting shops including a craMom got one interesting gift at Lizzie’s Menagerie for a lucky recipient at Christmastime andft/art studio and a

gift shop called Lizzie’s Menagerie. I found a great addition to a present for an upcoming November event. Gary called while we were out and told us he had finished his walk. We joined him and made evening plans. We had tentatively planned to see a train engine, but it was too late so we decided to settle in for the night. Mom made our break-fast meal from leftovers, and negotiated with the motel office staff to let us borrow the microwave oven.
